Ngati Tama

About Us

Our people, our land, our future

Who We Are

Ngāti Tama ki Te Waipounamu Trust is the mandated iwi organisation for Ngāti Tama in the South Island. We are dedicated to the cultural, social, environmental, and economic advancement of our people.

Our Trust manages the Treaty settlement assets on behalf of the iwi, working to ensure a prosperous future for all Ngāti Tama whānau. We are committed to kaitiakitanga of our taonga and the well-being of our communities.

Cultural Preservation

Protecting and promoting te reo Māori, tikanga, and our unique cultural heritage.

Environmental Stewardship

Exercising kaitiakitanga over our whenua, awa, and moana.

Community Development

Building strong, connected whānau through education and social programmes.

Our rohe encompasses the northern part of Te Tau Ihu o Te Waka a Māui, including the Golden Bay and Kahurangi areas.

These lands and waters are central to our identity as tangata whenua. We maintain strong connections to our whakapapa, our marae, and the natural environment that sustains us.
